WHAT I DON'T WANT TO BE WHEN I GROW UP

A funny but honest guide to choosing a job. This is a collection of hard truths that are not always talked about when it comes to popular careers. Perfect graduation gift!

Is it brutal? Yes.
Is it funny? Sometimes.
Is it true. Also yes.

So... someone here is ready to be choosing (or changing) their career?

Every career has a downside - stress, boredom, annoying people, weird hours, or stuff no one warned you about.

This book isn't here to crush dreams, it's here to help you pick your battles.

THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE CAREER GUIDE!

It doesn't look at the fun stuff and the high moral ground. It tells you about what people actually complain about and whether you're up for it.
40+ jobs. Zero sugar-coating.

BONUS PAGES

A list of jobs jobs which are most at risk being taken over by automation and AI. But also a list of jobs which will become more popular and in demand in the future.

EACH JOBS COMES WITH A USEFUL DEMANDS/REWARDS CHART

How much a job requires in terms of amount of training needed, time spent standing, sitting down, being outside, working with people? And how that compares with job stability and income.

A LITTLE INTRODUCTION...

It all began with a simple idea: to get kids thinking a little deeper about what they want to be when they grow up. It was initially going to be only 10 jobs, but this quickly grew as I realised there was so much more to explore. I also knew I couldn't make the list too long or overwhelming, so I stopped when I thought I got all the 'obvious' ones.

Being a mom of two energetic boys, I found myself pointing out the downsides of certain jobs to them rather than just promoting the glamorous side.

Each career choice in the book comes with three key elements: a list of the less-thangreat parts of the job, an inspirational quote from the point of view of someone who would genuinely enjoy that particular role no matter what, and a detailed career profile outlining important factors to consider.

Of course, there are some limitations, like the need to add more careers, refine the profiles to include things like investment cost, and maybe even tackle harder topics like personality fit and physical demands.

These might all be part of the second edition, so stay tuned. Thanks for joining me on this journey!
